Getting through the system

Please add comments below for how you have managed to get around the (poorly designed) bureaucratic systems, ‘buttons’ you have found to press, people you have complained to and got a response or methods you have found to help you survive living with Hackney Council interference.

Might be best to keep posts annonymous here; the Council is very likley be checking this page to see if anyone has incriminated themselves so they can launch the might of thier protcol against them. Not suprising because Hackney Council has reportedly been using Anti Terror laws against it’s residents.

  1. I managed to get a parking ticket through using a company letter to explain it was a company car.

I cannot really change where my car is registered so it was the only option. VERY fustrating, and annoying that they cannot cater for people in situations other than normal.

  2. I know someone who got through the system by moving away. He said the council/parking/beurocracy was the biggest bain of living in London.

Which was amusing as he had also been mugged.. well done HC.

  3. This could be interesting:

If a private company (that acts on behalf of the council) gives you an unjust fine, and you do not have to pay it – it is reasonable to invoice them for the time & expenses you have incurred appealing.

The liklyhood is that they will not give you a notification that you have been let off if this is the case. However, in future I would love to know if anyone has managed to do this successfully.

If they refuse to pay you can take them to small claims court, add interest or all sorts of fun things.

Would love for someone to try this – reply to this post if it works/gets a good response.

    Ted

  4. Hot news -did you know that the whole of the central CPZ ’s parking restrictions in Hackney from 6.30pm to 11.00pm Monday to Friday have no legal vaidity?

Why? Because Hackney has failed to have in place appropriate signs at ALL entry points to the zone which the law requires…moreover one entry sign in particular actually gives the outer zone times…the signs have to face the motorist and for roads over 5 meters in width there has to be two on each side of the road ….

If you have received a ticket when you are convinced you never saw any warning signs, appeal – especially if you entered the zone from the south along Maire Street…

Go to appeal if you have to…I did and won..the photographic evidence was beyond dispute!
